Iceland: glaciers and fjords
From Reykjavík to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula
The first Iceland expedition of the Eye of the Wind begins in the capital Reykjavík: We will set course for West Iceland and approach the Snæfellsnes peninsula from the water side, which is often described as a "miniature version of Iceland". The Snæfellsjökull glacier, located at the western end, is said to have a magical aura. On the north coast of the peninsula, a stopover at the fishing village of Ólafsvík is worthwhile. Soon we see the 436 meter high Kirkjufell mountain on the starboard side. The destination of this trip is the town of Grundarfjörður at the end of the fjord of the same name.
