The Northwest Peninsula - Iceland's Westfjords
Discovery trip to the westernmost point of Europe
The port town of Grundarfjörður is the starting point of this ocean voyage along Iceland's Northwest Peninsula. We sail past the bird cliffs of Látrabjarg, the westernmost cape in Europe. The 14-kilometre-long coastal cliff is home to countless puffins and other seabirds. Further north, the Westfjords carve up the landscape; at Dynjandi, several waterfalls plunge into the depths. The destination of this trip is the harbour of Ísafjörður, centre of the Westfjords and the fishing industry of this region. The small town is surrounded by high cliffs and is a suitable starting point for whale watching tours.
