Discover Norway and Denmark on a sailing cruise on the „Eye of the Wind“

Discover Norway and Denmark on a sailing cruise on the "Eye of the Wind" ...

nor_kristiansand_000002368477xsmallCome on board of one of the ships full of history, lay back and forget the everyday routine. On the “Eye of the Wind” you can enjoy your freedom or help sailing the ship. No matter what, setting sails, brassing or trimming our crew will show you what to do.

The so called flower city Kristiansand is also very gorgeous and during the summer more than 20000 flowers which are arranged artfully attract visitors. A little bit further to the east there is another great South Norwegian attraction which would be the zoo of Kristiansand (Dyrepark). In Songdalen you can go on moose safari. Be inspired by Kristiansand’s flora and fauna.

Not very far from Skagen the northernmost city in Denmark there is Grenen the spot where North and East Sea meet. Enjoy the natural spectacle of the “Grey Lighthouse” which is with a hight of 46m the second tallest in Denmark and its 210 steps should not stop you from climbing up. The unbelievable light in the north of Denmark has been attracting artists for years. In many of Skagen’s galleries and museums you can have a look at the art work. dk_skagen_000009793196xsmall

In Laesoe (Læsø)the salter huts were rebuilt for tourists. Another interesting feature on this island is that its houses are tiled with sea grass. The nave of the “white church” has been torn down and only the tower has been kept as landmark and instead of the nave there is now a luxurious salt-water bath.

dk_anholt_000001852642xsmallThe castle Anholt offers a glamorous picture that reminds of the French Loire-castles. Inside of the castle you can have a look at the collection of paintings, manorial cultivation of taste in home décor, the bibliotheca as well as a collection of chinaware.

Kopenhagen’s landmark is the 1.25m high „Little Mermaid“ in memory of the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen whose fairy tales still fascinate young and old. Fairy tale feeling also comes up when seeing the castle Charlottenborg with its brown brick facade which today is used for an art gallery and welcomes many visitors every day.

dk_kopenhagen_02The national museum in Kopenhagen does not only offer plates but also background information on the Vikings. Some of the most precious findings from this era can also be found there such as weapons, jewellery, coins, rune stones and clothing.

From Kopenhagen it is only about 30km to Roskilde. In the former Danish capital you need to pay a visit to the Viking-Shiping-Museum. There are five real Viking boats that were found in the fjord not far from the museum. An interesting film is being showed about the ship’s recovery. There are also copies in the original size in front of the museum.

Come on board and experience the fascinating history and culture of the sea warriors from the north.
